Organise a 60–90 Second Story

What this lesson changes, and why it works.

1.Lesson introduction

This lesson has a deliberately narrow promise: organise and deliver one clear 60–90 second story or explanation. Not presentation design, not slides, not stage presence — those are separate subjects and pretending otherwise would give you a shallow version of each. What this does teach is the thing clear articulation cannot rescue you from, which is disorganised ideas. Five beats do the work: where we were, what went wrong, what you did, what changed, and what you took from it. Build one story in this structure and you will reuse it for years. This is also your rehearsal for Lesson 15.

2.Learning objectives

  • Structure a story or explanation into five beats
  • Keep it to 60–90 seconds and cut what does not serve a beat
  • Deliver the RESULT beat with emphasis and a pause
  • Improve a second take by changing something you chose deliberately

3.Your clear-speech toolkit

Each lesson adds a layer. By the final lesson the whole stack is working at once.

5.How it works

1Context2Challenge3Action4Result5Lesson

Context: Where we were, in one sentence. Enough for the problem to make sense and no more — this is the beat that quietly swells to a minute if you let it.

  1. 1Say your story in a single sentence before you tell it properly.
